What do you like most about teaching English?
I love the English language classroom.  It’s a place where students bring their own unique culture and therefore it’s a place that is alive with so much diversity.  This means that as a teacher not only do I help students learn another language but I am richly rewarded with discovering so much more about countries and cultures from all over the world!

With a deep passion for learning I always dreamed of becoming a teacher but my parents couldn’t afford to send me to university so I had to wait to achieve my qualifications later in life.  I am also fascinated with society and culture so I studied a Bachelor of Social Science and then travelled to Japan where I taught English for 3 years. Later I became qualified as a TESOL instructor (training teachers to teach English) and taught overseas in China, Cambodia and Korea.

How long have you been teaching English?
I’ve been teaching English now for over 15 years. I love travelling and teaching is a great way to do this while experiencing and learning about lots of countries and cultures at the same time. With so many students from so many different countries in the classroom I feel like I’m always travelling!!   It is without doubt the most rewarding job in my life!
