Ekka Public Holiday
IT’S EKKA TIME!
From the 11th – 20th of August, Brisbane welcomes the Ekka to town. Queenslanders love the Ekka so much that we have a Public Holiday dedicated to the event! That’s right, on Wednesday 16th August, there will be no classes or lectures!
So what is it? The ‘Ekka’, short for exhibition, celebrates the rural and urban heritage of our wonderful state with a mix of entertainment, agriculture and education.
Each year, the show is held at the RNA showgrounds and attracts around half a million visitors. With rides, farm animals, wood chop shows, fashion parades, fruit and vegetable displays, fireworks, horse shows, live music and whip cracking demonstrations (just to name a few), you’re guaranteed to have an awesome time and maybe even learn a bit about your home away from home.
As a student you are able to purchase a concession ticket which means that you can attend at a reduced price.
